RELAXED CORNER Relaxed Corner - This is where you'll find some information on what's currently happening in the winery and vineyard - whether good fun or hard work. We hope you enjoy and visit regularly to see what's happening. Please e-mail and suggest comments, or just give us some feedback. CURRENT UPDATE - 7 September 2012 SHEDFEST - 13 & 14 October 2012 Shedfest is again on this year. Wineries on the Warburton Hwy open for the weekend and we all enjoy premium wine, food and music. Link to more details - SHEDFEST 2012 Update - 1 May 2012 Vintage 2012 - Another cool summer with many challenges due to the rain. Back to a mid March start and we finished second week of April. Wines to watch at this early stage. Sauvignon Blanc (release date Mid June 2012) and the Shiraz. Always at the end when you bring the last nets in you find a bucket. Don't know how it happens but the evidence is below.
Update - 8 February 2012 Grapes are ripening and the birds are thinking about dinner. Check winemaker and helpers (Geoff and Anda) at work below:
Updated - 31 December 2011 Vineyard manager needed a little help in the vineyard to catch up. What a good looking group enjoying morning drinks. Update - 22 December 2011 For Facebook people check out Brumfield on Facebook. A shot of Santa at Brumfield for people who don't understand Facebook.
Update - 30 November 2011 After heavy rain and a storm the entrance to Brumfield Winery changed. Sad to see the old oak tree go.
Updated - 29 September 2011 Sorry again we have had a few more web problems. Winemaker has now saved backups. Don't forget Shedfest on the 8 & 9 October. See link for detail: SHEDFEST 2011 We have been busy planting the last vines and also replacing any vines that have not made it. Molly and Monty the resident dogs have enjoyed the work. Here standing guard. Updated - 12 August 2011 Sorry a few web problems that has tested "Blind Mice Web Design". If you notice a link that doesn't work please email. YES we are open again after our month off during July. You will notice a few changes on your next visit with the old dead pine trees gone. See pic below:
Update - 3 June 2011 Like most wineries vintage was difficult this year. Too wet, but we will still have some very nice wines. The list this year is Sauv. Blanc, Chardonnay (unwounded), Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. Yes, sorry - no Pinot Noir. It was just too wet and disease took all those grapes. Sauv. Blanc and Chardonnay are both being filtered this coming week and will be bottled a day later. Chardonnay is my favourite but Sauv. Blanc fans will not be disappointed with the 2011 version. A very refreshing and alive vintage. The Shiraz has been a difficult child. Some wines make you work and often then turn out to be the best. If that's true 2011 Shiraz will be magnificent but at this early stage the Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 is my favourite. Lovely berry fruit flavours. Fresh with beautiful smooth tannins at this early stage. With some new French Boutes barrels and older French oak it's almost good enough to bottle now. Not really, but I do enjoy the tastings. After another 12 months in oak it should be good. Really good. Update - 19 March 2011 Vintage update - What a year. We are half way through March and no grapes yet. Ripening is very slow. Tanks have never been cleaner because winemaker has had plenty of time. Hopefully the rain for early next week is only light so we might have Sauvignon Blanc processing by the end of the week. Update - 16 March 2011 More Dexter cattle. Delphie gave birth to baby boy 5 March 2011. Winemaker was so busy in Anda's Kitchen that he missed all the action. Both new calves are in this shot below. Check out the first arrival further down this page.
Update - 23 Feburary 2011 A new arrival for our Dexter cattle herd came on Tuesday 22 Feb 2011. Wombat our short legged red Dexter gave birth to her first calf. Winemaker kept a watchful eye from a distance but all went well. We now have another short legged Dexter and she will turn black as her coat changes over the next 6 months. Photo taken when she was about 18 hours old.
Update - 1 November 2010 Sorry it's been longer than it should be. No updates. Talking to people at Cellar Door yesterday reminded me that I haven't provided any updates. Hopefully by the end of this week we will have online ordering of our wines with regular specials. This will be via Boutique Wineries who support small wineries and provide a fantastic service to the winery and the customer. Just arranging pictures of our wines and then we should be live. You will be able to go direct to www.boutiquewineries.com.au or go via our web site which will take you to our page.
